Christopher Lane is a Staff Scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory and a Affiliate Research Scholar at Northeastern University.
As an undergraduate NSF fellow, he contributed to research in the chiral dependence of graphene nanoribbon edge states along with their spectroscopic signatures under the guidance of Vincent Meunier at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
His doctoral work with Arun Bansil at Northeastern University focused on the electronic structure and spectroscopies of correlated materials, 2D thin-films, and their heterostructures.
After receiving his PhD in 2019 he joined Jian-Xin Zhu's group at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and then as a Director's Postdoctoral Fellow.
Research Interests
Modeling of electronic structure and spectroscopy of two-dimensional atomically-thin films beyond graphene, nanosystems, heterostructures, high-Tc superconductors, topological insulators, correlated f-electron systems, and other novel materials. Theoretical methods include density functional theory, and techniques for going beyond the Density Functional Theory framework to incorporate effects of strong electron correlations, such as GW and DMFT self-energy corrections. Modeling of spectroscopies include ARPES, STM, QPI, and Light Scattering.
